The aim of this section is to provide participants with the opportunity to learn more about the wider environment, as well as to develop their self-confidence, teamwork and health.
The Bronze adventurous journey preparation will begin with a training day at school where campcraft, first aid, navigations, equipment, food and emergency scenarios will be covered.
The AJ itself will take part in 2 sections - a 2 day/ 1 night practice followed by a period of reflection and then a 2 day /1 night qualifier.
The practice AJ will take place on trails and a camp group near school.
On the first day, students will hike with an adult who will guide and coach them on navigation skills and emergency procedures.
Students will set camp and cook their own food using skills they learnt on a training day.
On the second day, they will hike alone along a preplanned route. Teachers will be ready to meet the student at strategic points along the route to check they are on course and provide water refills.
One mobile phone will be caried by students and will only be used in case of an emergency.
The Qualifier AJ will take place on the trails in Khao Mai Keao and students will camp at a local campsite.
Students will work with their team to follow the route on the map and hike from the drop off point to the camp and back. The will demonstrate all skills learnt during the practice AJ making improvements where needed.
An aim for the AJ will be chosen by the team and everyone will work towards achieving this during hike.
You will present the finding from your aim to Year 9 in an assembly.
